As part of the Chevy line up of full-size vehicles, Chevrolet introduced the Chevy Silverado in 1999. It replaced the Chevrolet C/K (C stands for 2WD trucks and K for 4WD) that was the full-size pickup line from 1962 up to 1998. The Silverado resembled a lot its predecessor but in terms of engine size and performance, the Silverado was like the C/K.

The Silverado looks better and a more refined performance promises every consumer. Considering that pickup trucks are made for utility, luxury is surprisingly at its best on the Chevy Silverado. Exterior looks is also an attraction at the Silverado which is classified in to two categories: the HD or the heavy duty and the LD or light duty.

The original 1999 Chevy Silverado light-duty version was in 1500 and SS trim levels with packages like the Work Truck Package, Base, LS, Z71, and LT packages. It also comes in regular, extended and half-ton Crew Cab configurations. Engine options include a variety of V86 and V8 engines, starting with the Vortec 4300 V6 to the powerful Vortec 6000 V8.

Chevy Silverado HD which was introduced in 2001 is the more powerful version of the Silverado. The HD is available in 2500 and 3500 versions. The ¾ ton 2500 is available in five trim: Regular Cab and LS in 2WD; Ext. Cab, LS Ext. Cab and LT Ext. Cab in 4WD. It was powered by is the Vortec 6000 V8 engine that produces 300 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque as the standard engine. The 3500 version is available in six trims: Base extended cab, base regular cab, LS crew cab, LS extended cab, LS regular cab, LT crew cab, and the LT extended cab. The engines of the HD 3500 are choice from the 6.0 liter V-8, 6.6 liter Duramax Diesel, up to the 8.1 liter Vortec V-8 engine that can move the Silverado just like a high performance sedan.
