Chevrolet is a known division of General Motors, one of the world’s
giants in the automotive industry. Its name has long been popular
when it comes to producing best selling and excellently-designed
automobiles. Chevrolet’s history in the automotive market began on
November 3, 1911 and its name was taken from the name of its designer,
Louis Chevrolet. It has invaded the US market during 1950s and 1960s.
Chevrolet produced lots of models that give its name a good
reputation. The early Chevrolets provided a healthy competition with
Ford Model T and the succeeding models have experienced success in
sales. Among the Chevy cars that gave distinction and good name to the
company are Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Suburban,
Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet
Cavalier, Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the classic yet fantastic Chevrolet
Chevelle.
Chevelle stands between the Chevy II and the full-size
Chevrolet line. It is an extremely reliable family car that rode on a
115-inch wheelbase. Produced in 1964 as a midsize model, Chevrolet
Chevelle is offered in various versions ranging from inexpensive family
cars to powerful coupes. At first, Malibu was a submodel of the
Chevrolet Chevelle but it later became a successful model in its own
right.
The Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS marked Chevrolet’s entry into
the hot midsize muscle car market. Recognized as a high performance
edition, Chevrolet Chevelle SS came with its own line of engines and
performance equipment. At first, the Chevelle came less powerful with
its original engine, a 327 V until it was replaced by a more potent,
396 V8s and eventually in 1970, it was outfitted with the LS6 454, the
most powerful rated engine in the history of muscle car. In the said
era, Chevrolet Chevelle remains one of the most celebrated cars with
good cause. This Chevrolet model became very famous not just in the
street but also at the race track.
