Both versions of the minivan are equipped with a 4.3-liter V6 engine that runs with up to 190 hp of engine power and travels at a rate of 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. Also available today is a 2-seater cargo van variety of the Chevrolet Astro.

The greatest advantage of the Chevy Astro is probably its truck-like qualities. In a truck's body, the Chevrolet Astro can haul and tow just about anything and can traverse on-road and off-road trails alike. Surprisingly, its weaknesses are also brought by its truck-like performance. Many people complain that the Chevy Astro has a bumpy ride and doors that are too high to provide a convenient entrance and exit.
