Chevrolet Corsica

The Chevrolet Corsica is a 4 door sedan that is initially a fleet rental vehicle was produced in 1987. The following year was a success for the Corsica and similar Beretta became the second best-selling car in America. In the year 1989, a four-door Corsica hatchback and a sporty LTZ that are packed with features like that of the Beretta were released and gained a more sedate audience. For the record, the Chevrolet Corsica was the first American car to be outfitted with daytime running lights along with revised rear suspension and larger tires.

The following year, Corsica's original engines were replaced by a larger 2.2-liter four and 3.1-liter V6, and the enticing LTZ model received reclining front bucket seats with adjustable lumbar supports, quick-ratio power steering, gas-pressurized shock absorbers, stabilizer bars, and 15-inch tires. And again a year after, Chevrolet Corsica got a modification, a driver-side bag was added and the interior was totally revamped. Then, the sporty LTZ was dropped and was replaced by Z52 sport package. But the 4-door notchback sedan and the 4-door hatchback are offered only in LT trim.

By the year 1991, Corsica came with a new dashboard featuring a more modular grouping of ducts and controls. The production of Corsica 4-door hatchback trim ceased in 1992 while the remaining trim established a standard antilock braking. The 2.2-liter 4-cylinder powertrain put on a new fuel injection system which enhanced its output from 95 to 110 horsepower.

In 1994, the Chevrolet Corsica's drivetrains were given much attention. The 4-cylinder engine got additional 10 horsepower and the new V6 mated with a new electronic 4-sped automatic transmission now came with 20 more horsepower. On the other hand, because of some reasons, Chevrolet discontinued the Corsica and the Beretta after the 1996 model year. The Corsica was significantly replaced by 1997 Chevrolet Malibu.
