When you have a Chevrolet car, you are confident that own a vehicle which can survive the test of time. Chevrolet cars have been around for many decades now. It is a known division of General Motors and its history in the automotive industry started when it was established in November 3, 1911.

Chevette was among the models that helped Chevrolet in capturing the American spirit. It was produced in response to General Motor’s T-car program worldwide which is done in 1970s. The Chevrolet Chevette was originally offered as a two-door sedan and was first released in Brazil way back in 1974. After several model years, the Brazilian Chevette lineup finally included a two-door hatchback and station wagon and a pickup as well. The Chevette station wagon was called Majaro while the pickup was named Chevy 500, and was manufactured until 1994 model year.

Aimed for 1976 model year, the manufacturing of Chevrolet Chevette in the United States began in the late 1975. From the start of its production in the U.S., a three-door Chevette hatchback is available and it is equipped with a 1.4 or 1.6 liter gasoline engine, teamed with a four-speed manual transmission. A “Rallye” or “Woody” option package is offered as well as the optional 3-speed manual transmission. Also, a loss-leader scooter could be had. It is a two-seater, featuring a painted instead of chromed bumpers and very fundamental trim in the interior and exterior of the car. The original Chevrolet Chevettes can be distinguished through its round headlights, a hood that wraps down to the bumper and by means of a faintly curved tail featuring a tricolor headlights rimmed in chrome.

In 1978, a Chevette 5-door model built in a longer wheelbase was added to the line up. For the next two years, Chevette received several enhancements including flat hood that doesn’t wrap down to the bumper anymore, facelifted rear end, big chrome grille incorporating square headlights, wraparound taillights with black frames, squared-off hatch, facelifted rear end and built-in turn signals with brake lights. Chevrolet Chevette received minor changes for the succeeding years until 1987, its final year.
