Behind the wheels of every Cadillac are
connections of complicated systems that all aim to provide true
satisfaction. Even as simple as valve cover plays very essential role
in making it possible. Thus all parts of every system are created to
bring out characteristics worthy of a luxury brand, right from the
primary auto parts until the least important ones.
A valve cover is a protective covering that keeps oil within the valve
train for lubrication of the rocker arms. It is normally made of long
and thin sheet metal that bolts onto the vehicles’ cylinder head.
Significantly, valve cover holds the pressure produced by the pushrods
of the valve train as they pump and disperse the lubricant inside. And
because that job is too important to get defected, valve covers are
made more reliable and tough. Today, valve covers come in high quality
composite, plastic and thermoplastic materials.
The Cadillac valve cover which you are using by now may really work
well. In such way the Cadillac engine is prevented from getting
damaged. What you have to do is to keep that condition, to be able to
avoid oil leakage which often causes engine failure. How then will you
do it? Through manual pinching of the valve cover gasket, oil leakage
can be determined. You can also do it by removing the gasket and
putting the valve cover back onto the cylinder head. The purpose is to
see whether the valve cover is defective. The valve cover is still in
good condition if it sits flat onto the cylinder head when they come in
contact, otherwise it is bent.
However, no matter how good the engineering is and how tough the
material of Cadillac valve covers, they might still get bent or broken.
Over tightened valve cover gasket is normally the cause. It could also
be due to oldness and or unbearable pressure.
