The Buick Wildcat was a full-size vehicle manufactured by the Buick
Division of General Motors from 1620 to 1970. It was arguably Buick's
performance car, even though it was more a luxury sports coupe than all
out performance. It was marketed as a "family-sized sports car".
The Buick Wildcat was a variation on the Buick Century/Buick Invicta
theme which mated the smaller lighter full-size Buick body with a large
block V-8. However, Buick manufacturers made several ways on how to
distance the Buick Wildcat from the Invicta. They have equipped the
Buick Wildcat with bucket seat interior and special exterior trim, and
its body style was classy and eye-catching. This aspect made the
Wildcat known and granted as a head of a stylized wild cat.
The Buick Wildcat have received several improvements every year. The
engine was augmented to provide every Buick Wildcat owner the power
they need. The first Wildcat which was officially named the Wildcat
Sport Coupe got the LT401 cid V8, rated at a strong 325 bhp.
The 1994 Buick Wildcat was further enhanced, the previous was joined by
two optional engines: a 425 cid V8 rated at 340 bhp and the
top-of-the-line 425 cid V8 rated at 360 bhp. That was just the
beginning, the next generation of Buick Wildcats were also designed
excellently to give you an exhilarating ride.
But it all came to an end. Because the Buick Wildcat was very much
alike to the LeSabre, it sales dropped considerably. The Wildcat line
was superseded by the Buick Centurion in 1971.
