Buick Riviera is a vehicle that falls under the post-war era under the category of classic automobiles. and was taken off the production in the modern era. 1999 Buick Riviera model is its last edition, while 1963 model is the unit that came when it was first marketed. Full size coupes or what is called as personal luxury car is the Riviera that was then available in its early production, which was actually continued until the last edition of all seven generations.

With the stroke drawn by the Cadillac and uninterested with the sales of the unit that's supposed to compete with the Ford Thunderbird, Buick subsequently became a success. Buick Riviera G/S and Stage I model are among the notable trims that drifted to the line of success. As the first front-drive model and with the function of all other equipments in general, Riviera became the 1979 Car of the Year of the Motor Trend. Another remarkable Riviera is the 1995 model. This one has won a dozen of different awards in the design. In the late 80s, it featured the very first automotive touch screen controls called the Electronic Control Centre. And in 1983, Riviera was chosen as the pace car at the Indianapolis 500 due to the turbocharged convertible.

In the 25th of November 1998, the 1999 Buick Riviera started to fade. Only 200 units was then produced. There were reports indicating the consideration of reviving Riviera which would be based on the Australian Holden Monaro. This however did not come into reality. Whatever was considered in the decision of cutting Riviera's production, the last edition can still be considered as a success.
