The General Motors Corporation is currently the largest automobile
manufacturer in the automotive industry with worldwide operations and
top contender brands such as the Cadillac, Chevrolet, Daewoo, GMC,
Pontiac, Saturn and Buick. The Buick as one of General Motors’ front
liner brand of automobile builds, and is currently based in the United
States, Canada and China with marketing target areas of North America,
China, the Commonwealth of Independent States or CIS countries, and the
Middle East. With much dedication to automotive passion, Buick Motors
Division was able to produce some of the most renowned, long-existing,
and sought after models in automotive history.
On the other hand, Buick also produced some short-lived models such as
the Buick Invicta. Looking back, the Buick Invicta was among the
full-sized automobiles produced by General Motors’ Buick Motors
Division from he year 1959 until 1964. If you can notice, the Buick
Inivcta was just a continuation of the Buick Century concept that
absorbed the standard size set on the Buick LeSabre body, which was
then the Buick Special prior 1959. Buick’s big block V8 engine was also
applied to the Buick Invicta adopting the nickname of "banker's
hotrod".
Because of the Buick Century's success, Buick Invicta who descended it
had a hard time reaching the sales average enjoyed by the Century.
Buick was expecting a warm welcome and support for the Invicta like
that of the Century but due to several factors such as unstable
demographics, the multiplication of two-car households, and the
introduction of the personal luxury Buick Riviera, made it difficult
for the Buick Invicta to promote itself to the public, and worse, with
the coming of the Buick Wildcat in 1962, hope for the Buick Invicta was
slowly loosing out if sight, and finally came to rest in the year 1964.
