For a brand like the BMW, proper care should always be top priority. For the
price of every BMW is way above the regular sedans, it is not worth the risk to
neglect everything especially for the mechanical parts under the BMW hood. As
the power plant of every vehicle, the engine, serves as one of the major components
of the vehicle. Without it, the BMW will not run. And without a proper functioning
engine, the BMW cannot serve to its best capacity.
To maintain BMW engine, one important component that plays a major role keeping
it in good condition is the radiator. The radiator is a device located at the
front of the engine that keeps it at normal temperature during running condition.
As the heat changes inside the radiator, the pressure changes significantly. The
pressure build up causes the water or coolant inside it to expand. As the water
or coolant expands, it transfers to the radiator overflow tank which is commonly
located at the side of the radiator. Usually made from plastic, the radiator overflow
tank houses the coolant that comes out from the radiator through a pipe connecting
the two.
Without the radiator overflow tank, the excess coolant caused by pressure change
will overflow on the road that could result to engine overheat. It acts as a temporary
reservoir for the coolant. When the engine cools, it creates a vacuum that causes
the coolant to draw from the radiator overflow tank back to the radiator. Thus,
the radiator is always full keeping the need for refilling up to the minimum.
The engine, radiator and the radiator overflow tank works hand in hand together
with other BMW parts to keep the BMW running at its best condition.
