Every part of a BMW vehicle seems to add to its
glamour and elegance. The hood, the top, the trunk lid, the side panels
and all other body panel parts—all seems to give the vehicle a smooth
and sleek appearance. And then there’s the variety of stylish vehicle
lights on its sides and edges, with designs reminiscent of European
art. And what better way there is to finish this stylishness at the
front and rear end of the car than by installing gorgeous BMW bumpers?
Aesthetics, however, was not the reason why BMW vehicles were equipped
with bumpers. BMW bumpers are indeed elegant and fit stylishly to the
vehicle’s body, but they were installed in their place for reasons that
has nothing to do with its style. Rather, the bumpers were installed to
protect both the car and the passengers from incurring too much harm
and damage during minor and low-speed collisions. Bumpers were designed
to absorb as much shock as they can during such accidents or
collisions.
Basically, there are two kinds of bumpers installed in a vehicle: the
front bumper and the rear bumper. Front or rear, these bumpers are
basically from the same materials. Heavy duty steel used to be the
preferred material for the manufacture of bumpers, as they have great
tolerance against crashes and collisions. Most vehicles today, however,
are being equipped with bumpers made of rubber, plastic, or light
metals. But don’t you worry, as most of them are equipped with
hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders for shock absorbing purposes.
The bumpers of your BMW can save you from much harm, but only during
low-speed collisions. A major collision, however, is another thing, and
the bumpers of your vehicle are definitely not enough to protect you in
such instance. Also, bumpers today are very susceptible to damages. So
if you can avoid collisions (yes, even the minor ones), do so; or be
ready to replace your elegant BMW bumpers every time you get into one.
