For almost a century now, the Bavarian Motor Work or BMW has never
failed to deliver great and world-renowned automobiles and continuously
producing world-class vehicles. Started in the year 1913, the BMW is a
known producer of performance cars. In fact, it already made an
innovative engineering and technology trademark as a secret to their
cars. Up to the smallest details, BMW sees to it that everything that
makes up a BMW car are carefully crafted and designed to bring every
driving experience to ultimate pleasure.
One of BMW’s significant car models is the BMW 1600. The BMW 1600 made
it first public appearance in the year 1964 but sadly had only 4 years
of production. Short as it was, the BMW 1600 was remarkably considered
to be one of BMWs memorable car. The BMW 1600 made use of the BMW 1800
pistons to enlarge the 1500’s engine to 1.6 liters or 1573 cc and
deliver a force of 85 horsepower. The BMW 1600 substituted the smaller
previous model.
After the BMW 1600 came the BMW 1600-2 or otherwise called as 1602 as a
second series which was produced by the year 1966 up to 1975. This BMW
1602 boosts a power output of 96 horsepower or 71 kW gross with 91
ft-lbf or 123 N-m of torque. A magazine called Road and Track was
impressed thus gave the BMW 1968 BMW 1602 coupe a special recognition
and calling it “a great automobile at the price”.
The BMW 1602 had a limited cabriolet production which only lasted from
1967 up to 1971, followed by a two-door coupe version. It also had the
1600ti version that features dual carbs and delivers a force of 105
horsepower by the year 1967 and 1968. And lastly, the BMW 1600 had a
hatchback 1600 Touring model to be produced in the year 1971 and 1972.
