Then came the year 1970, this was the production year of the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle or HMMWV famously known as the Humvee. The Humvee was produced as replacement for the Jeep. This has what led AM General to create the Hummer which is the civilian version of its Humvee. AM General later on sold the right to the Hummer design to General Motors.
