Vehicles classified under the first three trims were equipped with a 2.5-liter V6 engine that outputs 154 hp of power and 152 lb-ft of torque. The topmost trim (QV) was equipped with a special 3.0-liter V6 engine that outputs 183 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque.

The specific reason why most Alfa Romeo lovers would call the Alfa Romeo Milano as the last "true" Alfa Romeo was its rear-wheel drive structure. The Alfa Romeo Milano was actually the last Alfa Romeo to be designed on a rear-wheel drive platform; all other models manufactured after it used a front-wheel drive body platform. Also, the subsequent Alfa Romeo vehicles produced was found to have lost the classic Alfa Romeo styling.
