The intake manifold of your Acura vehicle is an important component of its induction system. Directly involved in the air consumption process, it should operate accurately enough to match the air consumption need of your Acura engine. You can find this element situated right between the cylinder head of your Chrysler engine and its carburetor. It functions mainly to send the fuel and air mixture to the individual intake ports found in the cylinders. The source will come from the carburetor and will be directed towards the plenum. Afterwards, the air/fuel mixture will be transported into the intake runners.

As your Acura intake manifold is part of the intricate mechanism of the engine system of your vehicle, it easily becomes one of those components that fall prey to abuses that the combustion process may result to. When the component becomes defective, the result could be alarming. In which case, damaged intake manifold should be treated immediately to avoid further serious cases of engine failures.

Failures or decline of the performance of intake manifold can be attributed to only two factors. The first one is age, to which this is the typical and most often the reason why an intake manifold would fail its task. There’s nothing much that can be done regarding this problem except to replace the ailing unit. The second reason is due to intake manifold leaks. This problem can be fixed and still is repairable. However, one consequence it could entail is the instability of its performance, in which, it could again result to another round of failures.

Engine overheating is typically the result when an intake manifold is damaged. This is an occurrence that is generally abhorred by most mechanics and drivers as it means the engine is in for a more serious predicament. In any case, if you want to avoid this occurrence to be experienced by your Acura engine, make sure it is properly maintained. Replacing an intake manifold could hurt both your pocket and your time, so it is never a good idea to wait for it to incur damage when you can prevent it in the first place.
