Skyjacker Tie Rod Assembly
The steering system of your vehicle provides you the direct control over the direction of your vehicle. The steering system works in tandem with the suspension system to allow you to effectively handle your vehicle. Typically, the steering system of your vehicle is comprised of the steering wheel, the steering shaft, the pinion, the steering rack, the steering arm, and the tie rod. The tie rod is directly connected to the wheels and is responsible for providing tensile control for the wheels. However, when you make adjustments in the height of your pickup truck or sports utility vehicle, for whatever purpose, the tie rod and other steering components will inevitably be affected. You may need to replace the built-in tie rod of your vehicle with the Skyjacker tie rod assembly. Skyjacker tie rod assembly allows the steering system of your vehicle to compensate for any adjustments made in the suspension system due to vehicle height lowering or lifting. By lifting the height of your pickup truck or sports utility vehicle, additional tensile force is added to the tie rod. Hence, the tie rod assembly needs to be totally replaced. The inner tie rod ends provide pivot points for the steering gear. On the other hand, the outer tie rod is connected to the adjustment sleeve, which joins the inner and outer tie rods together. This arrangement allows for the adjustments of the front wheel alignment. In a height lifted vehicle, a complete set of tie rod assembly is needed to maintain the normal front wheel alignment. Maintaining the alignment of the front wheels is crucial in maintaining quality handling and control of a vehicle.
