Skyjacker Drag Link
The drag link is the suspension link that provides connection to other linkages in the suspension system. It is usually described as the four-bar steering linkage that covert the rotational force of the steering arm to the center link and to the tie rod. It functions each time the steering arm operates in a plane above other suspension links. During this phase it converts the sweeping arc of the steering arm to linear motion going to the steering links. A drag link like the Skyjacker drag link is an affecting factor to the steering ratio and geometry of the vehicle. It maintains the ratio within its proper equation, and properly regulates the movements and turns of the steering wheel and handle bars. Even though it greatly affects the steering ratio, it still does not interfere with the wheel alignment or with the toe in and out setting of the vehicle. Its function revolves merely to its intended purpose and does not extend to other components and operations. In some vehicles the drag link is already eliminated and replaced by an alternate steering mechanism like the rack and pinion. When the rack and pinion or the three-bar linkages are used, the center link is moved directly making the need for the drag link to become unnecessary. If your vehicle still has this drag link component, you must provide it with due care and proper maintenance because it usually gets damaged and dislocated during road bumps and accidents. But considering that it becomes damaged and worn out, you can easily have its replacement products from our website.
