Every time you step on the brake pedal of your vehicle, the force exerted by the muscles of your legs is multiplied several times via a hydraulic system. The effort that you exert is hydraulically transmitted to the brake calipers or brake shoes of the wheels. Typically, oil is used as hydraulic fluid. Since the oil cannot be compressed, it tends to seek other space thereby pushing the caliper pistons or brake drum pistons of the brake system of your vehicle.
The hydraulic fluid is contained within a system of hose, reservoir, cylinders and pistons. Muscle force is multiplied by hydraulic leveraging. However, this is not possible without the brake hose that actually transmit the hydraulic force. On the other hand, the Skyjacker brake hose is an aftermarket replacement for the original brake hose of your vehicle.
It functions in similar manner as the original brake hose. However, unlike some original brake hoses, the Skyjacker brake hose is constructed out of flexible stainless steel that is resistant to high pressure, extreme temperature, and corrosion. The steel fibers are braided together to form the hose. Teflon and other synthetic materials may be added to provide additional flexibility and seal. This brake hose comes in assorted forms, depending on the applications. Typically, brake hoses used in rear brake system are longer and have more complex components. Brake hoses can be purchased along with gaskets and associated mount hardware. It is advisable to completely replace the brake hoses of your vehicle even if only one brake hose becomes defective. This is to save time and effort, since the remaining brake hoses are also most likely to eventually fail.
