Drag link is a link for transmitting rotary motion between cranks on two parallel but slightly offset shafts, such as the rod connecting the lever of the steering gear to the steering arm an automobile. It is also a tube or rod used as connection between the pitman arm and steering knuckle. The factory drag link is bowed to clear the lower spring bucket and sway the bar mount. The new Currie arm is also bent to give additional clearance in the area because they found the stock rod would hit the axle when the suspension is crossed.
It is normally used on cars and light trucks. The term drag link is commonly used in automotive technology for the link in a four bar steering linkage. The most common drag link is the Pro Comp drag link. This linkage converts the rotation of a steering arm to a center link and to the tie rod link which will pivot the wheels to be steered.
Drag links convert the sweeping arc of the steering arm to the linear motion in the plane of the other steering links. It is also used when steering arm operates in a plane above the other links. Pro Comp adjustable drag links give your vehicle a better steering response. These links replace the factory straight links to provide you proper steering component geometry on any of your lifted ride. It not only adjusts but is formed to correct angles. Its complete replacement design is available with new heavy-duty rod ends. Pro Comp was established in 1992 and since then it has been recognized worldwide as one of the top manufacturer of high quality and durable off-road products. Its array of products include on and off-road suspension systems, shock absorbers, and lighting accessories for trucks and SUV.
