Hurst Shifter Bushing
The shifter of your vehicle is one of the most often used parts on your vehicle’s interior. Whenever you are driving, the job of the shifter is always important, since there is always the need to shift from one gear to another gear, depending on the demands of the road you’re traveling. Most vehicles on manual transmissions, the shifters tend to fail or at least begin to loosen up after about 60000 to 70000 miles. These shifters start to begin to show signs of wear and damage, the bushings becomes loose in the process.
This scenario is primarily due to the wear of the two rubber bushings that fit between the lower arm of the shifter and the transmission linkage. And by replacing the bushings, almost all of the loose shifter symptoms can be eradicated readily. This is where the Hurst Shifter comes in, the product is a perfect replacement for your stock shifter bushing, plus it firms up the shifter. The Hurst shifter housings usually use six bushings, one on each end of the three rods.
The Hurst brand offers either steel or a nylon bushing kits with all the necessary spring clips that is needed for its easy installation. The nylon bushings reduce the noise and deliver a respectable performance. The steel bushings on the other hand is usually used and designed for many race applications. The shifter bushings for the Honda Civic for example feature a bushing from the brand that is made from urethane and will replace your factory rubber mount and bushings. This particular part will give your vehicle a more firmer and positive shift feel and will ultimately reduce common miss-shifts. The bushings are easy to install and feature a direct fit installation process.
