Hays Clutch Kit
The clutch allows engine power to be applied gradually when the vehicle is starting out and interrupts power to avoid gear crunching when shifting. Engaging the clutch will allow the power to be transferred from the engine to the transmission and the drive wheels. Disengaging it will stop the power transfer and allow the engine to continue turning without force to the drive wheels. The clutch has various basic components: the flywheel, the clutch disc, the pressure plate, the throw out bearings, and the linkage, oftentimes a cable linkage. The flywheel is a large steel or aluminum disc that is bolted to the crankshaft of the engine. The flywheel performs many functions. It acts as a balancer for the engine and dampens engine vibrations caused by the firing of each cylinder. It also provides a smooth-machined friction surface for the clutch to contact. Between the flywheel and the pressure plate, a steel plate disc that is covered with a frictional material is mounted. This is the clutch disc. The other clutch components like the pressure plate, the bearings, and the linkage all work to achieve an efficient power transfer, The Hays Clutch Kit is a kit that consists of basic clutch components which are designed for the promise of performance. The kit is engineered and built as a matched assembly, and each kit will provide exceptional performance, durability, and long-term dependability. The kits are designed for street and strip applications. The kit that is constructed to fit the popular Chrysler, Ford, and GM vehicles includes a pressure plate, a throw out bearing, a disc, an alignment tool, and a bolt kit. The clutch type is the diaphragm, with a size of 10.5" and a spline of 1 1/8-10.
