Hays Clutch Disc
The Hays Clutch Disc is basically a steel plate that is covered with a frictional material and is mounted between the flywheel and the pressure plate. Its lining is made of woven or molded non-organic materials that may also contain particles of soft metal such as aluminum or brass. With this construction, the strength of the lining and a series of radial grooves in the lining's faces are improved and the grip between the disc and the flywheel is also enhanced. A hub in the center of the disc mates with the transmission's input shaft, thereby providing a direct mechanical coupling between the two. A group of torsional springs located between the clutch hub and the lining dampens the driveline shock and vibration. The very purpose of the clutch disc is to transmit the engine torque directly to the input shaft of the transmissions. When coupled with the pressure plate and the flywheel, the disc makes and breaks the flow of power from the engine and into the transmission. The clutch disc is perhaps the heart of any manual transmission vehicle on the road. Whenever you are in the street or in the strip, the clutch disc will do the work for you. The Hays Clutch Disc is available for a wide range of vehicles, with several choices depending on the construction and friction materials used. The discs are engineered to deliver smooth, chatter free engagement, clean and crisp shifts, and steady torque transfer. All these benefits are yours without sacrificing street and strip drivability.
