Ford Racing Crossmember
Just like a building, a vehicle needs a framework to hold the components underneath it. It must support the vehicle's engine, the suspension system, the driveshaft, and the differential. The chassis performs this job, but it will not be able to support all the weight of the vehicle components. A crossmember is used to help in supporting the said components. This part is responsible for holding the position of the transmission which is located before the driveshaft. Some vehicles have a removable crossmember while others include it as a portion of the vehicle's body shell. The crossmember is a heavy duty sheet of metal which is intentionally bent and has a very complex shape. The purpose of this complex shape is to enable the crossmember to withstand the weight, the forces, and the elements which can cause the transmission to fall off. The crossmember is placed at the bottom of the chassis to be able to maintain the proper position of the transmission and keep the position of other components located below the vehicle. Ford Racing offers crossmembers which are removable. This is a good thing because if ever the crossmember gets damaged, it can always be easily replaced. Ford Racing Crossmembers are available replacements to provide the same, if not better performance, than stock. Regular inspection and maintenance will help in determining whether there is any problem with the components located at the bottom of the vehicle. It is important that these components be secured. And this is where the crossmember gets in. This will efficiently keep the auto components intact as long as it is working well.
