Flowmaster 80 Series
What differentiates Flowmaster from the average straight-through muffler designs that populate the market today? To figure out the difference between the two, it is better to understand the technology underlying the straight-through muffler design. The straight-through design utilizes a packing material wrapped around a piece of perforated tubing to absorb sound as it travels through the muffler. This internal tubing is generally reduced as it enters the inlet of the muffler to help achieve a more efficient sound reduction - the smaller the hole, the lesser the sound. However, this creates restriction to the hot gases that travel through the muffler.
The advantage of the Flowmaster mufflers is their use of a sound energy cancellation technology, so you will not have to worry about packing materials which will deteriorate and getting louder exhaust tone after every few months. Flowmaster utilizes an interior case volume which is far superior to that of the straight-pipe technology. The deflector in the muffler acts as a one check valve that eliminates reversion back to the engine and creates a low pressure area to help erase the exhaust. With the advantages of the Flowmaster brand enumerated, you are assured that all Flowmaster products will exhibit various advantages and benefits.
Among its products lines is the 80 series. This series is designed for applications where the muffler must be mounted transversely behind the rear end. It provides an aggressive muscled auto sound both inside and outside your vehicle. This performance part is a replacement for early and late models of Camaro and Firebird. The Flowmaster 80 series is a true cross-flow with single or dual inlet / dual outlet configurations. As with other products of the Flowmaster line, the Flowmaster 80 series is sure to fire up the engine of your vehicle for less emissions but better performance and durability.
