Would it not be nice to have a performance product that will automatically monitor the status of your vehicle’s brake pads, on whether they are still up to the challenge of steady and efficient braking functions? Fret not, since there is a product that actually does this job at heart, enter the Centric Brake Pad Sensor. This part makes sure that the wearing out of the brake pads will not remain unnoticed. Thus, your vehicle’s braking capabilities will not be compromised. What the brake pad sensor does is to monitor the condition of the brake pads.
When a monitored pad has worn down below 2mm of the remaining friction material, the vehicle’s rotor chews through a small plastic bump on the sensor and slices the wire in half. This will then cause an open circuit that will trigger a warning on your dash, telling you explicitly to check your brake linings. Once this message appears, the brake pad sensor has outlived its purpose and needs to be replaced again. But then, what is important is that you have been forewarned of a far more important thing and has been saved from a possible damage and untoward incident.
You will have no need to doubt your auto’s braking capabilities. Each Centric brand replacement sensor comes with a short wire harness that clips into the main wiring harness. The other end clips into a slot at the top of the new brake pad with the small plastic bump facing toward the rotor. After replacing the brake pads and the sensors, the dash warning will still be illuminated. However, you need not go to your dealer just to have the message reset. To reset the warning, turn the ignition key to the run position but not to start the auto. After a minute, the brake pad warning will reset. All the Centric Brake Pad Sensors and wires are sold individually. Four are usually required per vehicle. These performance parts meet or exceed the original equipment manufacturer specifications.
