B&M Transmission Linkage
B & M transmission linkages are systems that link the shift lever with the vehicle's transmission shift forks. The requirement for a transmission in a vehicle is the result of the internal combustion engine's functions. The linkages perform together with other components in the engine to completely make the entire vehicle run smoothly and precisely. Transmissions are responsible for transforming the engine's output so that it can provide high torque at the lowest speeds, and also work about at highway speeds with the motor still working within its restrictions. The majority of transmissions and gears employed in car and truck applications are enclosed in cast iron casing, although in some instances aluminum is utilized for lower weight. The transmission contains 3 shafts: the mainshaft, the countershaft, and the idler shaft. The mainshaft stretches outside of the casing in both courses. The input shaft is directed towards the engine, while the output shaft goes thru the rear axle (which is found on most rear wheel drive vehicles). The shaft hangs by the initial bearings, and is divided towards the input end. At the end of each division, a pilot bearing carries the shafts as one. The clutches and gears located at the mainshaft ride on it. These gears are free to rotate next to the mainshaft except when they're engaged by the clutches.
