Autotecnica Trim Molding
Autotecnica trim molding is a great way to line cut sheet metal around fan holes; the trim molding comes in ? width with a glossy finish. It is excellent to line cut sheet metal for window openings, fan holes, or to just protect against sharp edges. It is lined with adhesive to securely fix the trim to the sheet metal edges and clasp it. Capable of accommodating case sheet metal up to 1/8" thickness, its inside measurement is 1/8 inch opening for the case metal. Body side and trim molding is a good way to prevent most parking lot incidents of dings and blemishes that may occur when someone opens their door. Evidently, there are more and more vehicles nowadays with decorative auto moldings strategically placed at "door-ding height" to prevent this trouble. Hence, if your vehicle is lacking such protection, it would be wise to install moldings. Installing them is very easy. You just need to take the time to apply it carefully and follow simple directions. Basically, moldings with 3M tape are best installed at temperatures warmer than 65 degrees. Plastic moldings are easier to manipulate, more flexible and cab be cut when warmer than 70 degrees. In the same manner, smaller moldings can be easily cut with heavy sharp kitchen scissors or tin snips. You can however use a versatile and clean sharp anvil pruner to make it easier to get a straight cut on all sizes. A utility knife with a razor blade inserts can also work well, but not one with the break-off blades. Prior to installation, you will need to prepare the vehicle bonding surface by cleaning it thoroughly with alcohol and a clean white cotton rag. This is necessary to get rid of the wax residues so that the 3M peel-and-stick adhesives can bond to it securely. If possible, you must avoid using colored cloth for this purpose as this may leave colored residue behind. When the cleaning is done, then follow the installation basic procedure. You can surely do it all by yourself.
