Securing the oil in your vehicle is now easy, thanks to the APC oil cap that is crafted to specifically make sure that you will never experience any leak on the road as you drive. Though an oil cap may seem and look like an ordinary vehicle accessory, you must know that it also plays a very significant role once it is installed. Generally, the function of an oil cap is to effectively seal the oil vapors inside the crankcase while allowing you to add the oil when doing an oil change or whenever the oil level is low. The moment you lose or misplace your stock oil cap, it is but appropriate to replace the said cap immediately since the oil could spray under your vehicle’s hood when not sealed, causing fire hazard as well as increased emissions from oil vapors escaping into the atmosphere.

The moment you will have to install an oil cap, you need not have any problem since doing this will require only a minimal effort. You simply have to pop the hood, unscrew the oil cap by spinning it counter clockwise, and replace the cap. The oil cap is usually crafted from metal or plastic and can attach by locking tabs or twist threads. And for the APC oil cap, you can have this in anodized red or blue finish and will come complete with the rubber O-ring.

Now, the rubber O-ring is an integral part of the oil cap since this ring will effectively secure the cap and effectively prevent leaking. Caring for the oil cap may require different approaches. The cap needs to be inspected according to its type. For twist lock caps, check to see if the tang is bent or broken. If it is, the cap must be replaced. If threaded, check the threads if broken and replace it if so.
